Bingo National Stadium, Civo Stadium to host Confederation of African Football games
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has said Bingu National Stadium and Civo Stadium in Lilongwe are the only certified stadiums to host the Confederations of African Football (Caf) games in the country.
Be Forward Wanderers and Masters Security Services FC are expected to play their Caf Champions League and Confederations Cup respectively next month.
Wanderers will date AS Vita of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) while Masters will clash with Club De Petro of Angola.
As of yesterday, Caf website showed that both Wanderers and Masters were yet to indicate their preferred venue.
Fam Acting Competitions Manager, Casper Jangale while confirming the development, said it was up to the two teams to choose a stadium they intend to use.
“The inspection and certification exercise is not done by us. Caf already conducted the exercise last year and certified the two,” Jangale said.
Masters General Secretary, Zack Nyirenda could not be reached on his mobile phone for a comment, but Wanderers Team Manager, Steve Madeira said they will obviously use BNS.
Wanderers, Nyasa Big Bullets and other teams used BNS last season to host their games in the league as well as competitions like Airtel Top Eight, Carlsberg and Fisd Challenge Cups.
This was due to the closure of Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre before the beginning of 2017 season to pave way for renovations.
