Blackouts to persist as Tedzani works commence

Electricity supply Commission of Malawi has said preparations regarding the project that will add 22 megawatts power generation at Tedzani Intake are making progress.

The Project which will be implemented with support from the Japanese Government is expected to commerce next year and is expected to end in 2018.

Meanwhile, the contractor Mota Engil is closing the gates that control water in order to create a dry area to allow for the Japanese engineers to carry out their work.

Resten Muriya, Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for Tedzani Power Stations told Times Group over the weekend that the process will increase blackouts in the country.
