Reggie group Black Missionaries has said it intends to release some singles off Kuimba 12 by the end of next month.

The reggae outfit failed to release the singles in August as planned due to challenges beyond their control.

“We had hoped we would release the singles in July or August but we failed. Again, the pandemic has affected us greatly in that most of our programmes need to be revisited and see how we can make progress,” the group’s leader Anjiru Fumulani said yesterday.

He said the singles were ready but they wanted to have them on the market through a proper plan.

“Most of the times, we release the songs having performed them during shows but it’s been tough with the pandemic. We are hoping that shows will resume soon and that the situation will normalise,” Anjiru said.

He also said that they are targeting to return to the stage later this month.

“We are also looking at celebrating the 25th anniversary and then the memorial which is always held in November but we will be shedding more light on this,” Anjiru said.

On Kuimba 12, Anjiru, assured fans that they will be sampling the songs this year.

“Putting together an album demands a lot and with the situation we have been in, we have failed to make progress and so if we don’t manage this year then we are targeting early next year but for singles it will happen this year,” he said.

The group had started holding performances before the government put in strict measures including a ban on gatherings of more than 100 people due to the pandemic.

The Chileka reggae outfit is one of the group’s in the country which holds more shows and gets most of its income through live performances.

Black Missionaries is also one of the groups in the country that attracts huge audiences.
