Blacks to release 4 singles, 2 videos

Covid has affected the creative industry greatly, with several artists delaying projects which would have been on the market by now.
Chileka reggae group Black Missionaries, popularly known as Ma Blacks or Blacks, announced last year that they would release three singles in their walk towards releasing Kuimba 12 album but they failed.
And, early this year, they came out again, announcing that they were set to release three singles produced in South Africa, which never materialised.
But yesterday the group’s leader Anjiru Fumulani, while admitting that Covid has been the main reason for their failure to release some songs, said they are dropping four singles on August 30 with two videos without fail.
“We know people have waited for long since last year when we announced that we were releasing singles. We are geared now with four singles and two videos produced by Gift Sukez Sukali,” Anjiru said.
He said they were working on the artworks for the four singles.
“On the four singles, there is only one track which was produced in South Africa and the rest have been produced here by Amos Mlolowa,” Anjiru said.
He could not be drawn to name the titles of the four singles, saying people would know them once they finalise the artworks.
Having halted performances due to the rise in Covid cases, Anjiru said they have been in the studio finalising Kuimba 12 project.
“We are working hard to finalise everything and it has been serious business in the studio. If all goes according to plan, the whole album should be ready end November or December,” he said.
The group has lasted three years without releasing an album as the last time they dropped Kuimba 11 was in June 2018. Kuimba 11 has songs such as ‘Mbusa’, ‘Special Lover’, ‘Zofuna Mtima Wanga’ and ‘Umboni’.
