Musician and broadcaster Blak Jak, real name Fatsani Kalonda, on Sunday held a VIP Listening Session for his latest album Indzee which drops on June 5 2021.

The VIP Listening Session, hosted by Keturah’s manager and social media influencer Pemphero Mphande, attracted a number of players in the creative industry including veteran producer Tapps Bandawe.

During the listening session, which saw people listening, close to 16 songs in the 20-track album, Blak Jak, famed for songs such as ‘Wadya Iwe’, could not hold back his tears with the track ‘Pemphero Langa’.

“I lost my mother when I was very young and in the song I am asking God to give me another chance to meet her again. We never had a chance to live this life together. I thought of her and how proud she could be and that broke me,” he said.

The Times Television and Radio presenter had time to share a story behind every song during the listening session, where the invited team also had time to critique him.

In the album, Blak Jak has collaborated with a number of artists and they include Piksy.

Asked why he had to go for 20 songs instead of narrowing them to two albums, Blak Jak said: “I don’t know when I will have the same energy again but it felt right to do 20 songs. People will have more music to enjoy,” he said.

He further said he has more collaborations in the album because he wanted to share the platform with fellow artists.

“There is strength in numbers,” the Nyasa Guruz member said.

There was also a heated discussion during the session as regards one of the songs deemed controversial, with some calling for it not to be included in the album whereas others want it in the album.

Blak Jak has since said the album will be available for sale on all digital platforms and through local money transfer platforms.
