Blantyre in Chitenje Ladies Night fever

Sunbird Mount Soche in Blantyre will Friday night play host to the Chitenje Ladies Night.

The dress code for the night is anything made from Chitenje material.

Sunbird Tourism Public Relations Officer Akossa Mphepo said all was set for the Chitenje Ladies Night which comes barely a month after Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe also hosted a ladies night.

The highly anticipated event will see ladies paying K18, 750 on the door.

“We hope ladies have put a lot of thought and creativity into their outfits because the best dressed will win a romantic getaway from Sunbird,” Mphepo said.

She said that there will be lots of activities during the event to keep ladies entertained as well as provoke their thought process on a lot of things to do with career, entrepreneurship and fashion.

Mphepo said the mood and tone has already been set with a few tickets being given out to the ladies via social media competitions.

“Sunbird has been involved in several activities this tourism month and the Chitenje Night, is the perfect way to bid adieu to September,” she said.

The public relations officer also said they were hoping that the event will create additional business for designers, tailors and cloth merchants.

“This platform will create a sense of pride in African print clothing. We are also promoting young talent by incorporating upcoming designer Wakisa Mukhondia, who will show her clothing range,” Mphepo said.

She said the Chitenje Ladies Night will also give a chance for ladies to shine by showcasing different outfits that they will wear to the event.

“We will also have giveaways and I should say it here that ladies are in for a treat,” she said.

Mphepo said that Sunbird’s intention was to provide an event that will enable female clientele to put all differences aside and thus have fun, network and interact with each other and with the Sunbird team.

Apart from the ladies night, Mphepo said Sunbird has entertainment options for its clientele across the country citing Sunbird Mzuzu which will host a Choma disco this weekend.

She also said the Sunbird Lilongwe recently introduced a cocktail menu with both alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails adding that the menu features well known classics such a peach daiquiri and locally inspired cocktails; the Sunbird Sunshine Quencher and Maligunde Punch.
