Blasto, a renowned dancehall. The Lilongwe-based artist, has released a new Extended Playlist (EP) titled Different Time.
Blasto born Otis Chilamba, said the album tisabout social injustices, love, human interest themes, environmental injustice and so many interactive issues that define human well-being in its entirety.
The album was recorded at Tuff Lion Studios in Lilongwe by Jah Rhyno with other songs at Mpwamphamvu Studio.
“This is an epic production that defines my journey from the previous albums to the current which resonates to what is currently happening on the ground. It’s a voice from within that is aimed at engaging with the masses and above all giving fans what they have been relishing to have in terms of reggae and dancehall,” he said.
One of the songs ‘Lifetime’, features the producer Jah Rhyno.
Other songs in the album include ‘Revolution’ featuring Third Eye and ’21 Gun Salute’.
Underrated, Blasto, with two albums to his credit namely Stronger and Persistence, said he was happy to bring to people new vibes that still stands out as one of the talented dancehall and reggae artists in the country.
Blasto has worked with artists like Karamanti from Jamaica, the late HHP from South Africa, Cameroonian Mali Yanke and Nigerian lyricist Lasisi on a number of songs in his previous albums.
He has also featured in a song titled ‘Mask Up’ for Covid-19 pandemic initiative by the Nigerian Film Academy with a number of artists from across Africa which will be released soon.
His collection Persistence was distributed globally by Bob Marley’s Tuff Gong International Recording Company which also helped to catapult and put him in the limelight.
