Bloomfield FC win Mulanje Top 8
Bloomfield Football Club beat Njedza Hammers 4-2 on post-match penalties to claim the championship of Mulanje Top 8 Trophy on Sunday.
Bloomfield, who also won the K1.5 million Mulanje District Football League (MDFL) championship, came from a goal down to force the game, played at Mulanje Park Stadium, into post-match penalties.
Bloomfield carted home a trophy and K100, 000, while Hammers received K50, 000.
Bloomfield also received the MDFL Premier Division trophy plus K220, 000.
Mulanje Mission were crowned Division One champions and they received a trophy and K100, 000.
Juma Uledi of Bloomfield pocketed K15, 000 for emerging top goal scorer in the Premier Division with 43 goals.
Mulanje Mission striker, Patience Khamula, won Division One Golden Boot Award with 35 goals and pocketed K10,000.
The Best Goalkeeper Award went to Faiza Charlie of Lujeri FC while Mulanje Mission were voted the most improved team.
Mulanje Mountain Conservation Trust Programme Officer responsible for Environmental Education and Communications, Kondwani Chamwala, has since reaffirmed the trust’s commitment to continue sponsoring the league.
MDFL Chairperson, Laurent Mwafilaso, said he was hopeful that the league would soon produce a team that can compete in the Premier Division and Super League.
