Coach Oscar Kaunda has quit Zolozolo United, dealing a blow to the Mzuzu Premier Division side ahead of their Fisd Challenge Cup quarter-final meeting against giants, Be Forward Wanderers.
“I will not be able to comment about the forthcoming Wanderers’ game as I have been hired by Karonga United to work with them as an Assistant Coach in their bid for survival in the TNM Super League,” the former Civo United coach confirmed yesterday.
Kaunda had no idea about his replacement at Zolozolo. Wanderers’ Coach, Yasin Osman, yesterday refused to read into the happenings in Zolozolo’s camp.
“We do not base our preparations on the fortunes of opposing teams. Of course, we study the opposition but we cannot say that because their coach has left, then we have an advantage. Their new coach could be better,” Osman said.
According to Football Association of Malawi’s fixtures, the quarterfinals are scheduled for November 4 and 5.
Zolozolo booked their quarter-final slot after defeating Dwangwa Town Hammers 1-0 in Mzuzu last Sunday whereas Wanderers saw off Lake Valley FC 5-0 on Wednesday in Lilongwe.
