Blue Eagles Coach Gerald Phiri Senior has asked for new strikers to halt the team’s dismal performance in the TNM Super League.
Phiri made the remarks after Eagles remained winless in six games, having drawn against Mafco 1-1 on Sunday.
“I expect the leadership to bring in new strikers to help us get goals as we used to do,” he said.
However, Eagles Chairperson Alexander Ngwala said Phiri was yet to exhaust all avenues.
“We will respect his request as long as we have assurance that the team will realise our lost fame,” he said.
Last month, Eagles Captain Micium Mhone told this paper that the side needed to replace the departed trio of Foster Bitoni (Silver Strikers), Schumacher Kuwali (UD Songo-Mozambique) and Vitumbiko Kumwenda (Mighty Wanderers).
“We are still struggling with the gap which the three left; no wonder, we cannot score goals,” he said.
The Nankhaka-based side came from behind through Mphatso Philemon’s goal to force a one-all-draw with Mafco.
Eagles are lying on position 12 with 13 points from 14 games.
