Blue Eagles focus on Fisd Cup
After three back-to-back draws in the TNM Super League, Blue Eagles have shifted their focus to the Fisd Challenge Cup.
The team’s General Manager, Gabriel Chirwa, Thursday downplayed the dropped points in the league games against Mzuni, Epac and Silver.
“We are a good team and the draws do not reflect that the team is bad. Last season, Mzuni managed to get four points from us while we got one,” Chirwa said.
“This season, we have snatched two points from each other, which is an improvement to us. We have just talked to our strikers and midfielders that we should concentrate first on the cup game against Azam Tigers this weekend.”
Apart from their Super League championship dream, Chirwa said they were also eyeing the Fisd cup.
“For about three years, we have not been good enough in cups. We now think that this is our chance to win a cup. Although we have been dislodged from the top of the league table, we are not panicking as we have 12 games to go. We can win enough games and be crowned champions,” he added.
Eagles are on position three on the log table with 35 points from 18 games.
The cops travel to Kalulu Stadium to face Tigers in the cup encounter tomorrow.
Some K10 million is at stake for the champions of the cup while runner-up will pocket K4 million and semifinalists K1 million.
