Blue Eagles, Kamuzu Barracks in mid week TNM battle
Blue Eagles finish their first round assignment in the TNM Super League today when they face Kamuzu Barracks at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
The two sides are looking to bounce back from disappointments they suffered last weekend when they lost their respective matches.
Eagles were beaten 2-0 by rookies Mzuni FC in Mzuzu while Kamuzu Barracks lost 2-1 to Civo United at Civo Stadium.
Despite the loss, Eagles are still third on the log table with 23 points from 13 games.
If Eagles beat Kamuzu Barracks today, they will move to the second spot on the log table with 26 points, apoint above second-placed Mighty Be Forward Wanderers who finish their first round against Red Lions.
On the other hand, Kamuzu Barracks are not easy customers on the pitch as they are capable of beating any side in the league.
The soldiers are ninth on log table with 15 points from 11 games and are looking dislodge Moyale Barracks on position eight.
Last season, when the two sides met, Eagles beat Kamuzu Barracks 1-0 at Nankhaka before they were beaten by the soldiers with the same margin at Dedza Stadium.
Speaking a head of the match on Tuesday, Eagles team manager, Gabriel Chirwa, said his charges were aiming to finish the first round on a high.
“We need to get back to our winning form and the players are in good shape. We are determined to finish the first round with a win,” said Chirwa.
On his part, Kamuzu Barracks coach, Temwa Msuku, said their preparations were going on smoothly.
“Our preparations have been going on well and we are ready for the match. We know Eagles are a good side but we are not scared,” he said.
In another match today, Dedza Young Soccer host Airborne Rangers at Dedza Stadium.
Big Bullets have already clinched first round top spot with 29 points from 13 games and they will pocket K300,000 for achieving that feat.
