Blue Eagles poor show in the TNM Super League continued on Wednesday when they lost 1-0 to Kamuzu Barracks at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
The defeat was Eagles, second successive loss in seven days after they were also beaten 2-0 by rookies Mzuni FC last week.
Just like last season, Eagles started the league on a high but suddenly lost their steam in the mid of the season.
They have already lost three games in the league this season.
However, Eagles are still third on the log table with 23 points from 14 games.
In post-match interview, Eagles team manager, Gabriel Chirwa, said they were disappointed with the two losses in final games of the first round but promised to come strong in the second round.
“We started the league on a high and we would have loved to finish the first round with a victory. The league is tough this season because all the teams have assembled good squads,” said Chirwa.
On his part, Kamuzu Barracks assistant coach Kenwood Nkhoma, was delighted with the performance of his charges.
“It was a tough game but we are happy because we have returned to winning ways after a disappointing defeat to Civo United last week. The players played well and we deserved the victory,” said Nkhoma.
Manase Chiyesa was the hero when he scored the only goal of the match in the dying minutes.
Following the victory, Kamuzu Barracks have moved up to position eight on the log table with 18 points from 12 games.
