The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has revealed plans to reward Blue Eagles Football Club players with a renewed monetary incentive if the side lifts this year’s Fisd Challenge Cup.

The cops will meet Kamuzu Barracks in the final at a date and venue yet to be confirmed.

Normally, Eagles players get 60 percent of the prize money of the cup and the remaining 40 is invested back into the team.

Last season, the police promoted some players to various ranks within the police service after Eagles won the Airtel Top 8 Cup.

Eagles Chairperson, Alexander Ngwala, said they wanted to motivate players to win the Fisd Challenge Cup.

Ngwala said Eagles management was excited with Eagles’ impressive form in the Cup.

“So far the team has made great strides and it is our wish to win. At this time we want to win the Fisd Cup this is why we are prepared to offer the team revived monetary incentive,” he said.

Eagles beat Silver Strikers 4-0 to earn a place in the final.

Meanwhile, Malawi Defence Force Public Information Officer, Paul Chiphwanya, said management will discuss at the end of the final to see how best to reward the players once they clinch the cup.

“We feel we should not disrupt our team’s preparations. However, if they win we will discuss how best to motivate them,” he said.

Kamuzu Barracks have won the cup once and this will be their third final appearance.
