Blue Eagles will start preparations for the 2018 season on Monday, following the conclusion of their talent identification exercise.

Eagles Head Coach, Deklerk Msakakuona, said he hopes for a good year on his return to the club, having spent one year as an assistant to Flames Head Coach, Ronny van Geneugden.

“After the talent identification exercise, we are ready to start preparations so that we should do well next season. We will build a good squad which can compete for trophies,” Msakakuona said.

Eagles Captain, Micium Mhone, said he was looking forward to the season, which is expected to kick-off in April.

“We have a good crop of players who can fight for all domestic trophies. Last season, we tried our best but we finished empty handed. Next season, we will engage an extra gear,” the former South Africa’s Jomo Cosmos attacker said.

Eagles are yet to make any signing in the transfer window, having lost top scorer Mphatso Philimon to cross-town rivals, Silver Strikers.

The cops also released midfielder Davie Ng’ambi, attacker Luka Milanzi and defender Gio Banda.

Last season, Eagles finished on position five with 45 points from 30 games, 24 points behind champions, Be Forward Wanderers.
