Blue Eagles assistant Coach, Wilson Chidati, has said they would bolster their squad with two defenders and a striker in readiness for the 2018 season.
“We need to add some players in order for us to compete for all trophies, including the TNM Super League. We have a good squad comprising young and experienced players but we had some problems in defence and upfront,” said Chidati, without revealing the identities of the targeted players.
In defence, Eagles have Wonder Jelemani, Gio Banda, Steve Chagoma, Ackim Kazombo and Semu Banda whereas the frontline comprises Mphatso Philimon (the club’s top scorer with 14 goals last season), Maxwell Salambula and John Malidadi Junior.
Former TP Mazembe forward, Luka Milanzie ,joined Eagles towards the end of the just-ended season, but failed to hit top form while Malidadi struggled with injuries.
Nonetheless, Eagles Captain, Micium Mhone, yesterday said he was hoping for a better year next season, having finished the 2017 TNM Super League campaign on fifth position with 45 points.
“We had good and bad moments last year but, next year, we would come back stronger and compete for all trophies. Nothing is impossible. If we prepare well, we can also win the league,” Mhone said.
The cops have never won the league’s title.
