Blue Eagles thrash Big Bullets
Blue Eagles produced a late master-class performance to thrash TNM Super League champions designate, Big Bullets 3-0 at Nankhaka Ground in Lilongwe on Sunday.
Bullets’ defence was torn apart in the second half to hand the People’s Team their second loss of the season. Their first loss was against Aiborne Rangers 2-1 at Chitowe Ground.
The loss against Eagles was Bullets’ heaviest this season.
Eagles scored through Gilbert Chirwa after 65 minutes before Wister Phiri and John Banda added classic goals towards the end of the game.
The victory means Eagles are still on fourth position on the log table with 40 points from 24 games, 17 points behind the runaway leaders, Bullets.
In a post-match interview, Eagles assistant coach, Wilson Chidati, was pleased with the performance of his charges.
Bullets technical director, Billy Tewesa, admitted that it was an embarrassing defeat, but claimed that the officiating panel contributed to the loss.
Before the match, Eagles players mounted a guard of honour for Bullets, congratulating the team for defending the Super League title.
