Blue Eagles to beef up technical panel
Newly elected Blue Eagles Executive Committee is planning to beef up the technical panel ahead of the new season.
Eagles elected new office bearers on Sunday in Lilongwe.
Newly elected Chairperson, Alexander Ngwala, on Monday confirmed that they were likely to bring someone on board to bolster the Derklerk Msakakuona-led technical panel.
“We are likely to make some changes in the technical panel to ensure that the team can challenge for the league championship. It does not mean that we have lost trust in the current panel but we want to make it stronger,” Ngwala said.
Ngwala ascended to the position having served as Vice General Secretary in the previous committee.
Among other things, Ngwala said his committee would strive to foster the relationship between communities and Police through the team.
He attributed the team’s poor showing in the second round every season to many factors.
“The players, technical panel and the executive committee are all to blame. Sometimes players lack motivation,” he added.
Ngwala replaced Richard Luhanga who did not contest while Alexander Moyo was elected as his vice chairperson, stepping in for Happy Mkandawire.
Ulemu Kaluwa was elected General Secretary whereas Sydney Ching’oma is his deputy. Eagles elected Joseph Kachapira and Kingsley Mzuma as finance officers.
Michael Nyatula, Francis Matewere, Hendrina Chimoyo and Tiyese Kabichi were elected as Executive Committee members.
Eagles finished the 2016 season on position four having led for the better part of the season.
