Blue Eagles winless in 2nd round
TNM Super League leaders, Blue Eagles, are still searching for their first win of the second round having drawn back-to-back games against Mzuni FC and Epac FC in the last two weeks.
After the latest draw against Epac in Lilongwe on Sunday, Eagles Assistant Coach, Wilson Chidati, was confident that his charges can win the league for the first time.
“We have no problem. Everything is going according to our plan. We will catch up soon,” he said, while Epac coach, Audloy Makonyola, said the draw was a fair result.
Eagles were without top striker Maxwell Salambula, John Malidadi Jnr, Philip Masiye and Japhet Mambelera due to injuries.
For the past four seasons, Eagles have been early season pace-setters in the league but lose steam in the second round. Eagles meet Silver at Nankhaka Stadium on Saturday.
Eagles lead the standings with 34 points from 17 games. Bullets and Mafco are on second and third positions, respectively, with 31 points each.
Since the league was introduced in 1986, Nyasa Big Bullets have won it the most 13—times followed by Silver who have won it eight times.
