Boma Stars continued their impressive performance in the K25 million Gateway Mall Netball Challenge Cup after winning all their games over the weekend.
Boma are on the driving seat of the Lilongwe urban play-offs having recorded 11 points from six games.
During the action for week two, Boma defeated Katalama 25-5 before registering a 19-5 victory over Vanesa Sisters. Boma also beat Jungle 13-9 to complete their good weekend.
Boma Head Coach, Whyte Mlilima, said his charges were determined to seal a slot for the regional finals.
“The girls are really doing well and we hope to maintain our momentum,” Mlilima said.
Black Eagles and Green Sisters Jnr also registered impressive victories during the games played at Gateway Mall Netball Court on Sunday.
But Katalama suffered a major setback in their quest for a regional finals slot.
Central Region Netball Committee (CRNC) Chairperson, Fanuel Katengeza, was impressed with the talent on display.
“Following the increased sponsorship, this year the girls are motivated. We anticipate that it will be a great tournament,” Katengeza said.
Lilongwe and Districts Netball League Vice Chairperson, Aaron Chipiko, said the tournament was getting exciting.
Mpico, through the Gateway Mall, is sponsoring the tournament to the tune of K25million—with K19 million allocated to prizes whereas K6 million is for administration.
Nine teams are taking part in the tournament in Lilongwe Urban whereas several teams are also playing in Ntcheu, Mchinji, Salima, Dowa, Nkhota-Kota and Ntchisi districts
