Hosts Nyasa Big Bullets are expected to open and close the Energem International Bonanza slated for this weekend at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
In the opening match, Bullets face UD Songo from Mozambique on Friday before paving way for rivals Be Forward Wanderers to entertain Chicken Inn from Zimbabwe.
Action will continue on Saturday with Wanderers taking on Songo in the first match while Bullets will later date Chicken Inn.
The four-team international tournament will end on Sunday with visitors Songo and Chicken Inn battling in the first game before leaving the pitch for Bullets and Wanderers to close the three-day event.
Bullets Chief Administration Officer, Albert Chigoga, said preparations for the international bonanza were almost through.
“We are now looking forward to the bonanza. We know it will be a good off-season treat as all the teams want to use the bonanza to assess and prepare their squads ahead of the new season,” he said.
Chigoga also confirmed that Chicken Inn will arrive in the country today while Songo will arrive tomorrow.
Energem Petroleum Limited pumped in K5 million to acquire naming rights for the bonanza.
During last year’s inaugural bonanza, Ferroviário de Nampula emerged victorious despite tying on points with Wanderers at five points each. Both teams matched on goal difference and they were separated using goals scored.
Ferroviário scored four goals whereas Wanderers scored three goals. Bullets were third with four points whereas Chicken Inn of Zimbabwe finished with a point.
