Musician Macdonald Chibwe better known as Born Richie in the musical circles has said he is ready to take the industry head on with another album which he plans to drop this year.
The artist famed for songs such as ‘Lingakome’, in which he speaks volumes of the challenges facing the country, has since dropped the first single off the new album titled ‘Kukondela Kwa Mulungu’.
“This will also be the title of the third album ‘Kukondela Kwa Mulungu’. The theme of the new album is centered on humanity and the importance of being humble and respectful with one another irrespective of social status,” Born Richie said.
He added that many a times “when we tend to look down on those, who are deemed of lower class like maids and guards but God can transform anyone anytime without consulting”.
“The album will have 15 songs and carries more gospel songs than the other two albums. It is not about rushing but making sure that people enjoy the songs when they come out and also at the same time get the message,” Born Richie said.
He said releasing the first promotional song was the first step of showing people that the project was underway and that he has made huge strides.
Apart from ‘Kukondela Kwa Mulungu’, according to Born Richie, the album produced by OBK, recorded at his studio and also his studio known as Again Music Records has songs such as ‘Patsa Patsa’, ‘Malawi’, ‘Ndigwire’, ‘Ndidzaphelezera’, ‘Victory’, and ‘Moyo’.
He also said that in the new album, he has drifted somehow towards fused music which he was calling Again Music.
“It is a blend of old school Malawi local beats with modern touch. Under Again Music label, we want to revive our ancestral songs and create our own identity as Malawi beats. There will also be other songs done in my usual style of blended reggae,” Born Richie, who is also an insurer said.
He said he expects the album to be ready by November this year and that as people look forward to the collection, he will be releasing promotional songs with videos.
“I can say it here that my previous albums have performed very well and the songs continue to enjoy airplay in some of the local radio stations. This has helped me to earn royalties for both radio and television,” Born Richie said.
He said he was in the music industry for a purpose and that for him it was all about transformational music.
His previous albums are Lingakome and Mbiri Yanga.
