Bose Kamphulusa shines in TNM Ladies’ Golf


Fast-improving Bose Kamphulusa won the championship for TNM Ladies’ Golf Tournament at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) on Saturday.

Playing off handicap 30, Kamphulusa grossed 98 and posted a net of 68 to emerge the champion.

BSC’s Ladies’ Section Golf Captain, Connie Muguvu-Karuku, playing off handicap 14, posted a gross of 87 and 73 net to finish second.


Third-placed Roza Mbilizi, playing off handicap 10, scored a gross of 84 and 74 net.

Kamphulusa attributed her impressive performance to a good start on the golf course.

“It was just my day. My shots were perfect and I enjoyed every moment. To TNM, I salute you for supporting ladies’ golf. I can only say ‘always be with us,’ we will always be with you,” she said.


In the juniors’ category, Zita Rodrick, playing off handicap 36, scored 111 gross and 75 net to win the competition while Priscilla Fiwa was second.

In the men’s category, Gift Gondwe playing off handicap 19, emerged the winner with a gross of 87 and a net of 68. Michael Khomani, playing off handicap 16, was second with a gross of 87 and 68 net.

In individual’s awards, Goodwin Chinseu won longest drive for the men’s on hole two while Gabriel Kambale won the nearest to-the pin on hole 10.

In the ladies’ section, Beatrice Mangwana won longest drive on hole eight whereas Diana Kambale hit the nearest to-the pin on hole 14.

TNM Chief Officer, Consumer Services, Daniel Makata, said they were excited to have interacted with their clients during the tournament.

“We had about four hours on the golf course which we used to interact with our clients. We are also delighted to have helped golfers to maintain their fitness,” he said.

Despite being a ladies’ tournament, 48 men and six junior golfers were also included. Fourteen ladies participated in the competition.

The first tournament was played in February, followed by the second in July.
