Botswana club releases Chikondi Likwemba
Malawian midfielder Chikondi Likwemba has been released by Botswana club, Letlapeng Sporting Club, The Daily Times has established.
Likwemba in an interview on Monday, confirmed the development saying he is now a free agent. He said the club agreed to release him after Letlapeng was relegated from the Be Mobile Premier League.
“I have no offers at the moment but only rumours and I will see how it goes. I am coming to Malawi any day and I am ready to play for any club in Malawi, but I have to critically look at the offers before making my decision,” said Likwemba in an interview from Botswana.
The former Letlapeng captain said he enjoyed his football career with Letlapeng despite the club being relegated.
“It was a wonderful experience playing for the team and I am sad to leave the club in the lower league,” he said.
Before moving to Botswana, the former Silver Strikers and Escom United (now Kabula United) midfielder also had a brief stint with FNB Orlando Pirates of Namibia. He played in Namibia for a year before he was released.
Apart from Pirates, Likwemba also played for Platinum FC of Zimbabwe and South African National First Division side, FC AK IN 2010.
