Netherlands-based model and fashion designer Mabel Banda Khonje said Thursday she was set to make history as she opens another chapter in her career tonight by launching the Boudoir Fashion Show.
The event, which will be annual, kicks off Friday night at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe, where a number of activities have been lined up.
Tonight people will get to sample music as well as fashion where models will parade in lingerie by Doll Mabel.
“It’s been hard work and more work putting things together and now here we are to give people something new and different. I am excited about the event,” Mabel said.
Having launched Boudoir Doll Mabel lingerie, Mabel came out again with swim wear for women and then she reached out to men with underwear.
“Women need the best of fashion and lingerie is one of them and so we thought we should bring out this fashion show. The support has been massive,” Mabel who has partnered Team Entertainers led by Tonderai Banda, said.
Meanwhile, South African act Blaq Diamond jetted into the country through Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe on Wednesday afternoon.
The South African duo of Ndumiso Mdletshe and Siphelele Dunya have since promised the best during the fashion show which is also set to feature musician Patience Namadingo and former Big Brother Africa representative Sipe.
“One thing I can promise people is good time and good vibes,” Dunya said.
The duo was welcomed at the airport by Tonderai.
“Blaq Diamond has been to Namibia, Zambia and all over the Southern African region, but we are happy now they are in Malawi,” he said.
Tonderai said people should come in large numbers and that they will follow strict Covid measures.
