Boxer Nigeria-bound

Blossoming local lightweight boxer, Israel Kam’mwamba, is expected to fight Otto Joseph in Nigeria on October 8.

Kam’mwamba’s Manager, Craig Rousseau, said the 23-year-old boxer was scheduled to take on Joseph in a 10-round Commonwealth title fight at National Indoor Surulere Stadium in Lagos.

Rousseau, who heads No Pain No Gain Boxing Promotions of Blantyre, said their partners, Delta Force Boxing Academy of Zimbabwe, have facilitated the fight.

Kam’mwamba said he had stepped up training ahead of the fight.

“I just need to adjust my training routine and study my opponent [through video clips],” he said.

Kam’mwamba has, in his professional career, registered eight wins, including five knockouts, and a draw.

Zimbabwean trainer, Clyde Musonda, who runs Delta Force Boxing Academy, will travel with Kam’mwamba to Nigeria.

According to, Joseph has, in the professional ranks, won all eight fights, including four by knockouts.

The Nigerian is also the lightweight champion for West African Boxing Union following his victory over Ayittey Mettle earlier this year.
