Bravehearts, Mikoko out of Swazi tourney

Central Zone Basketball League (Cezobal) giants, Bravehearts and Southern Zone Basketball League side, Mikoko, have withdrawn from next month’s Swaziland Invitational Tournament.

The tournament will take place at the University of Swaziland and Mavuso Sports Centre from June 23 to 25.

Bravehearts Head Coach and Patron, Griffin Kalua, yesterday said they pulled out of the tournament because their players will be engaged in examinations.

“On top of that, we will also be busy with King and Queen of the Court Tournament soon,” Kalua said.

But Cezobal defending champions, Central Knights and Lady Dynamites, have confirmed their participation in the Swaziland event.

Knights Head of Marketing and Fundraising, Emmanuel Phiri, said they had intensified preparations for the tournament.

“We are still appealing to individuals and companies to assist us. Some individuals have started donating towards our trip to Swaziland,” Phiri said.

Last year, Knight struggled in the Swaziland competition.

Meanwhile, Bravehearts continued their impressive displays in Cezobal after beating Knights 74-64 over the weekend.

Lady Bravehearts defeated Lady Dynamites 81-49 on the same day.

“The boys and girls are executing our game-plan. We just need to work on our offence and some defensive fundamentals,” Kalua added.
