Bravehearts optimistic

Malawi basketball giants Bravehearts hope that they will be allowed to travel to Zambia for the International Basketball tournament slated for March 26 to 28 at National Sports Development Centre and Zamsure in Lusaka.
As we went to press Tuesday, the team was yet to get clearance from the government to take part in the event.
If Bravehearts get approval, then the team will depart Wednesday ahead of the games starting Friday.
Bravehearts Patron Griffin Kalua was optimistic of getting clearance.
“We have prepared well for the games but the trip is not confirmed. After we get approval, we will go for Covid test,” he said.
The tournament is expected to attract a total of 30 teams in both men and female categories.
Bravehearts are using the tournament to prepare for the Fiba qualifiers slated for October this year.
The team is eyeing more than three international events this year including the Fiba qualifiers
Both Bravehearts men’s and ladies will take part in the competition should they get clearance from government. Basketball Association of Malawi General Secretary Peter Gomani said the association was waiting for a response from the government.
“We did our part and we hope government will give them the go ahead to participate in the competition,” he said.
