Bravehearts tourney throws off Friday
Giants from Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Tanzania will converge on Lilongwe from Friday for a three-day Bravehearts Basketball Club Invitational Tournament.
A total of 16 teams are in the thick of things at Africa Bible College (ABC) and Mount Sinai Basketball courts, Bravehearts General Secretary, Lusungu Banda, confirmed the tournament.
“We anticipate an exciting and entertaining tournament,” Banda said.
Zimbabwe giants Harare City Honets arrived in the country on Wednesday whereas other teams from Zambia, Tanzania and Zimbabwe were expected to follow suit yesterday.
Foxes and Falcons (Zimbabwe), Napsa Breeze and Napsa Hurricanes (Zambia), Mbeya Flames and Mbeya Queens (Tanzania) have confirmed their participation in the tournament.
Bravehearts, Bricks, Central Knights and Cobbe will represent Malawi in the men’s category whereas Bravehearts Ladies, Dynamites Angels and Mystics will also play in the event.
Apart from travelling to Swaziland and hosting teams from other countries over the years, Bravehearts also travelled to Zimbabwe to take part in the Lakers Invitational Tournament in November 2015.
G.Y Imports and Exports and its sister company Dr Print have sponsored the tournament to the tune of K7 million.
