Reigning national basketball champions, Bricks, are brimming with confidence ahead of their Tanzania tour for two friendly matches.
Bricks earned the trip after winning the national championship which was sponsored by GY Imports and Exports.
In this regard, Bricks are seeking to build on their local dominance onto the international scene, the team’s coach-cum-player, Victor Jere, said before departure.
“We have had impressive preparations. Except for one or two minor injuries, everyone is ready. We have been working at the gym, Blantyre Youth Centre and Kamuzu Stadium to maintain fitness and improve our style of play. Even though we are on off-season we managed to play some friendly matches,” he said.
Jere said the task and excitement of representing Malawi in Tanzania was a motivator to impress.
“We had one of our best seasons and we would like to finish off what we started. It will be tough but as Bricks we never say die,” he said.
Bricks finished the domestic league season unbeaten and they won three titles, including national basketball championship, Southern Zone Basketball League title and Meet championship.
Bricks left Blantyre on Thursday and are expected to connect to Tanzania today.
