Bricks to host fun day
Reigning basketball national champions, Bricks, will for the first time, celebrate the team’s contribution to the sport by hosting a family event.
Dubbed BricksNation, the fun day will be held at Blantyre Sports Club on September 24.
The fun day will also mark the official launch of Bricks’ women’s side, Lady Bricks, which was formed early this year.
BricksNation Organising Committee’s Chairperson, Omalha Kanjo, said the day will be filled with fun.
“We are bringing to Blantyre a never-seen-before event that we have dubbed “BricksNation Fun Day”. This is an event for the whole family. There will be jumping castles, face painting, sack races and other activities for children and the young-at-heart,” she said.
Kanjo also said Lady Bricks had established themselves as a force to reckon with.
“The idea behind this was to develop, promote and grow ladies’ basketball in the Southern Region as it has been dormant for a long time. Bricks’ men’s team provides the ladies with coaching and necessary support,” she said.
Bricks were formed in 1997 by an all-star team comprising former University of Malawi students.
