“I have met people in the region— these are delegates who are eligible to vote— and, soon, I will be conducting rallies. If you may recall, I was once vice-president for the Eastern Region and, so, many people from the region have been asking me to contest [for the position]. If there is good will, I cannot refuse. May the best candidate win,” he said.

Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Nicholas Dausi, said, from the look of things, the convention will be competitive.

“The enthusiasm of people who are collecting forms is overwhelming; a lot of people are coming to collect forms to contest in various positions. I can assure you we are going to have a competitive convention. On the issue of funding; you see, a political party is like a club of volunteers, a lot of people are coming to donate. I will be able to give you a list of the funders if need be as the convention [day] approaches,” he said.
