Inexperienced golfers, Godwin Chinseu and Jolene Bapu-Pereira, underlined their potential after winning this month’s 2016 NBS Bank Monthly Mug at Country Club Limbe on Saturday.

He counted out Phillip Phambana who settled for second place.

Chinseu said he was excited with the progress he has made since he started playing golf.

“Since I started playing golf in September last year, my performance graph has been rising steadily and fast,” he said.

The men’s section attracted 36 golfers and Chinseu registered eight pars and seven bogeys.

In the ladies’ section, Bapu-Pereira, playing off handicap 23, scored 36 points to win her fourth title in 10 tournaments.

The ladies’ winner has in four months improved her handicap from 36 to 23.

“My game has tremendously improved for the past few months and I would like to keep it that way. My target is to improve my handicap to 20 by the end of this year. I am confident that I will achieve that with ease as I have now mastered the game,” she said.

NBS Bank’s Head of Personal and Business Banking, Mercus Chigoga, said the winners have qualified for the end of the year’s Winner-of-winners Championships to be held next month.

“We are satisfied with the support we get from the golfers, who are among our valued clients. We promise to keep the fire burning.

Watch out for the Winner-of-winners Championship next month,” Chigoga said.
