Bullets beat Moyale, displace Nomads
TNM Super League holders FCB Nyasa Bullets have gone on top of the log table after convincingly beating Moyale Barracks at Kamuzu Stadium yesterday.
However, hot title contenders Mighty Mukuru Wanderers can reclaim the top slot if they beat Mighty Wakawaka Tigers this afternoon at Mpira Stadium, in Chiwembe Township, Blantyre.
Two first half goals from Lanjesi Nkhoma and Hassan Kajoke inspired Bullets to their third win of the season before Anthony Mfune secured victory with a second half strike.
Nkhoma put Bullets in the lead in the fifth minute following an assist from playmaker Patrick Mwaungulu while Kajoke doubled the lead in the 17th minute.
After resumption, Mfune increased Bullets’ lead in the 65th minute before Raphael Mfune pulled one back for Moyale.
Following the win, Bullets top the table with 10 points one ahead of second-placed Wanderers.
The People’s Team have won three matches and drawn once while Wanderers have a perfect run after winning all three games to collect nine points.
Bullets Coach Kalisto Pasuwa praised his charges for the victory but he refused to get carried away with the teams’ lead on the log table.
“It is good that we won but we are not leading what the table is saying,” he said.
Moyale Coach Nicholas Mhango said they conceded two early goals.
“It was difficult to bounce back from those two goals. However, the race is still on,” he said.
In another match, Civil Service United drew against Moyale Barracks 1-1 at Civo Stadium. TNM Super League games will continue this afternoon with four games taking place.
Ekwendeni Hammers will host title contenders Silver Strikers at Mzuzu Stadium while Red Lions will entertain Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar at Balaka Stadium.
Karonga United will welcome newcomers Bangwe All Stars while debutants Extreme FC will take on Kamuzu Barracks at Civo Stadium.
