BE FORWARD Wanderers yesterday received the least expected news in their dark hour—that rivals Nyasa Big Bullets had offered to take part in the funeral service of the Nomads’ departed chairperson George Chamangwana.
In this regard, blue and red will co-exist today during body viewing and prayers for Chamangwana at Kamuzu Stadium.
Wanderers General Secretary Mike Butao was pleasantly surprised by Bullets’ gesture.
“We are so touched by their gesture, Bullets will join us in mourning and burying our chairman,” Butao said yesterday.
The funeral service for Chamangwana will start at 10 am at the Kamuzu Stadium. Chamangwana died in the thin hours of Friday leading to the postponement of a derby between the Nomads and Bullets today at Bingu National Stadium.
An average player compared to his legendary relation Jack, Chamangwana leaves a legacy of stability and futuristic buying of players.
Chamangwana also leaves a stable executive committee that has scored highly on Club Licensing System whereas the playing squad has depth and quality.
