Bushiri urges Malawians to believe in Christ

FOUNDER of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has encouraged Malawians to work hard and believe in Jesus Christ as their saviour if the country is to develop.

Bushiri was speaking in Euthini in Mzimba early this week when he donated maize to families which have been affected by hunger in the district.

The South Africa based preacher said God has the capacity to help people who believe in Christ.

“No matter what you may do, God has the capacity of helping us to get out of poverty,” Bushiri said.

He added that Malawians need to work hard and put their ideas on the table so that the country can benefit.

“This is one of the things that move me most when I look where I am coming from, and see the problems that my country faces. We need to work hard; with the help of God everything is possible,” Bushiri added.

In his remarks, Traditional Authority Chindi thanked Bushiri for rescuing his people from hunger.

“We did not harvest enough this year [last growing season] and my people were starving here,” Chindi said. Chindi added that some of the beneficiaries are the elderly and the poor who could not afford to buy maize.

“I personally thank Prophet Bushiri for remembering us here,” he said. Bushiri added that he came to Malawi to help people who are facing a number of challenges in their lives and to preach to them about love which is the greatest commandment of God.

The founder of ECG is implementing a Beacon of Hope project which is aimed at reaching out to the poor.

The phase of the project budget is K200 million targeting over 10,000 families.
