Rotary Club of Bwaila newly inducted president Stella Kasirye says improved service will be at the heart of her year-long term.

Kasirye, who becomes the club’s second female president after Mary Mkali, said the projects to be implemented will be guided by rotary’s 2022-23 theme ‘Imagine Rotary’.

“You don’t have to go very far to see the plight of a really struggling education system. We will implement what rotary calls a programme of scale. This is a very big programme that can incorporate many partners,” Kasirye said.

She was speaking in Lilongwe on Friday during her induction ceremony.

In the 2022-23 year, the club plans to implement 10 projects, six of which supported by global grants. They include those on education, water and sanitation, health, peace and conflict resolution, economic empowerment and the Covid fight.

Four local projects are for a scholarship fund, environmental conservation, assistance to vulnerable children and menstrual hygiene management.

Kasirye was inducted into the club in January 2014. She served as director of publicity during the terms of Dilawo and another past president Pikawo Ngalamila.
