Malawi’s former national light welterweight champion Byson Gwayani has spoken of the need to secure more international fights if he is to uplift his game.
Gwayani, fondly known as ‘Fuso Fighter’, is currently preparing for an international bout against Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)’s Rigen Champion at Bingu International Conventional Centre in Lilongwe on November 12.
He said fighting against opponents from countries such as Zambia, Botswana, Tanzania and Namibia would help him take his game to another level.
“These are just some of the countries where I want to go to and fight. But for now, I am busy preparing for my DRC opponent. Everything is progressing well and I am sure that I will come out of this bout with victory. I am in very good spirits to win this fight,” Gwayani said.
Since 2012, Gwayani has fought 27 times locally and internationally, with 22 wins and five draws.
