C.O unveils Chawa Band
Musician and former Big Brother Africa (BBA) representative Code Sangala, aka C.O in the music circles, will tomorrow unveil his fresh group known as The Chawa Tribe Band.
The dreadlocked artist said on Monday that he was ready for the concert tomorrow night which will see him partnering with Banja La Mtsogolo (BLM) and will see the first 40 people receiving a Manyuchi package.
“I am excited to unveil my band which I will be working with. I am calling it The Chawa Tribe Band because I am in love with languages. I am more interested in Yao and this will be my focus. My music will be rooted to Chewa and Yao languages,” he said.
C.O, who used to star with Kapirintiya alongside his brother Shadre before he went solo, could not be drawn to reveal the names of the members of the band.
“We want this to be a surprise so I am not disclosing the names of the members. But they are people who are familiar with my music. Actually during the show we will perform a new song which is unrecorded and it’s titled ‘Tikamanga Chikondi,” he said.
He said it is easier to have a band as a point of reference, adding that the band will add colour to his live acts.
“My album Solo The Album is 90 percent live so its easier for me in terms of rehearsals and live performances unlike in the past when I didn’t have a band. This is a band of dedicated musicians who have a passion for music,” said C.O.
During the show, C.O, who will also follow up with other concerts, said people should brace to enjoy his other songs citing ‘Tithana,’ and ‘Kumazyole.’
The musician is through the concert distributing mosquito nets which he received recently from Sue Carter from USA, who raised the money through her church and made the donation through Blantyre Malaria Project.
C.O is distributing the nets as part of his Malaria Initiative Project in which he wants to take a leading role in fighting malaria.
Blantyre Malaria Project received the money from Carter and bought mosquito nets from Population Services International (PSI) and C.O said he will distribute 40 nets to the first 40 people.
“During the show I have also been priviledged to receive support from Carlsberg Malawi and so we will give a free Chill to the first 40 people this being a Chill Night,” said the artist.
He also said he is happy to be working with different companies among them BLM and Carlsberg Malawi.
“I say thumbs up to BLM for partnering me as well as recognising talent in communicating their services. As artists we can only grow when we get support from the corporate world. BLM will use the concert in promoting the new look Manyuchi” said C.O.
