Cable Manufactures commended for quality

Residents of Lilongwe city have commended Cable Manufacturers, a local company producing electrical wires, for supplying the city with quality cables for the past 20 years.

Cable Manufacturers became the first indigenous company in Malawi to produce cables in 1996 working hand in hand with the Malawi Bureau of Standards to establish the Malawi standard on cables.

Speaking when the company held its 20 year anniversary celebrations in Lilongwe, Cable Manufacturers Managing Director, Ayaaz Girach, described Lilongwe as a strategic partner in driving growth of the company.

“Lilongwe is an important market for us and we felt duty bound to celebrate our success story with you,” Girach said.

He said the company remains committed to providing Malawians with products of highest quality by ensuring that the production system meets international standards.

“Our cables are tested at every stage of production using our inline testing facilities. We have a laboratory where more detailed tests are carried out on all cables to ensure full compliance,” Girach said.

One of the invited guests, HTC Supplies, Managing Director, Tamie Phiri, commended Cable Manufacturers for its local production saying the development means many companies in Malawi can save foreign exchange as all transactions are done in the local currency.

“Previously we were importing cables and it could take months for a single consignment to get to us,” Phiri said.
