FDH Bank Senior Marketing and Communications Manager Ronald Chimchere said he was pleased that the competition was back.

“We look forward to an exciting competition as you are aware that last year’s tournament faced a number of challenges due to the Covid pandemic; so, fans were restricted from watching the games. We expect to come up with lots of incentives to engage our fans,” Chimchere said.

Football Association of Malawi General Secretary Alfred Gunda said fans should expect another action-packed tournament.

“We had a successful competition last year and sponsors attest to that. We were actually waiting for this moment because this is the biggest cup competition that touches every corner of the country and it is also the most rewarding, in terms of prize money and we are excited that it is back on time,” Gunda said.

The unveiling ceremony was followed by regional preliminary draws where teams will battle it out for the K500,000 regional prize money.

Silver Strikers are defending champions of the inaugural tournament after beating Ekwendeni Hammers 2-0.
