Cameroon Coach Clarence Seedorf has made five changes to the squad that faces Malawi in Friday’s African Cup of Nations Group B qualifier in Yaoundé.
The Indomitable Lions host the Flames at Amadou Ahidjo Stadium before the return fixture on Tuesday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
Seedorf has included Ukraine-based defender Joyskim Dawa Tchakaounte and Petrus Boumal, who plies his trade in Russia.
Another player, Jacques Zoua, has been called up to replace Stephane Bahoken who is out due to injury. Fabrice Olinga and Joel Taugueu have also been included in the squad.
According to a report on www mysoccer24.com, Cameroon Media Officer Medou Djemba announced the five major changes on Sunday.
“The major changes have come from the defensive half of the team, midfield and up front. In the defensive half, there is one change. For the second time in Seedorf’s mandate as Cameroon Coach, Eboa Eboa Felix has been called up and dropped without explanation and in his place has come Dawa. In midfield, Boumal has been added to four of the initially selected midfielders,’’ reads part of the report.
Among other notable players in the Lions’ squad are Choupo Moting Eric of PSG in France, Spanish side Villarreal’s Toko Ekambi and Christian Basoggog who plays for Hernan Jianye in China.
Both camps have been forced to make changes due to injuries. The Flames will be without Captain Limbikani Mzava and Gerald Phiri Jnr due to injuries.
