Caps United invite junior Flames goalkeeper for trials

Malawi Under-20 National Football Team goalkeeper Austine Chirambo has been invited to undergo trials at Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League giants Caps United.

Chirambo, who starred for the junior Flames during the 2022 Cosafa Cup in eSwatini, arrived in Harare, Zimbabwe on Thursday morning alongside Manchester Motors team mate, defender Gift Sydreck.

According to a statement from Manchester Motors, the two players trained in Zimbabwe yesterday.

“The two rising stars are expected to join the team at its training base on Friday [yesterday] in the afternoon where they are set to commence their trials with the team which is currently fine tuning for the upcoming competitions,” reads part of the statement.

Another youngster Emmanuel Banda Jnr is currently undergoing trials at Dynamos FC.

Fifa registered intermediary based in United Kingdom, Chamunoda Musanhu, has facilitated the trials for the three players.

“We are focusing on young talent. We want to give them a platform to showcase their talent,” he said. Several Malawian players have played for Caps before and they include Joseph Kamwendo, Gift Makoloni, Ishmael Thindwa, Tsanzo Dalio and Gerald Phiri Jnr.
