Carlsberg Malawi says it is impressed with the locally produced bottle-tops as they match with the international requirements and standards.
The bottle-tops are being produced by a local firm Kings Tin Manufacturing at Lunzu, Blantyre.
Carlsberg used to import bottle-tops until Kings Tin came on the scene last year.
Carlsberg Malawi Corporate Communications Officer Towela Munthali Piling said the company is satisfied with the bottle-tops from Kings Tin as there is no difference with the ones they used to import.
“We are impressed with what they have been supplying us,” said Munthali.
She said the company is able to provide enough quantities of the crowns and that they are currently being used on Carlsberg beer brands only.
She said by buying locally, Carlsberg is saving a lot on transport, storage space and foreign exchange.
“We are also helping in job creation through Kings Tin,” said Piling.
She said Carlsberg is currently working with Kings Tin to have them approved by Coca Cola to start producing crown corks for minerals.
Kings Tin started its operations in 2014 and employs about 40 people.
