Carlsberg Malawi Limited has unveiled football kits for Carlsberg Cup semi-finalists who are set to meet over the weekend.
Nyasa Big Bullets, Moyale Barracks, Be Forward Wanderers and Red Lions received the kits during a presentation ceremony held at Mpira Village in Blantyre Thursday.
Carlsberg Senior Brands Manager, Twikale Chirwa, said despite the company providing the kits late, teams are at liberty to place their sponsors’ brands on the uniforms.
“We are very happy with the way the competition has been run and we are looking forward to the semi-finals and indeed, the final.
“We also extend our gratitude to Football Association of Malawi as they have run the competition professionally. Teams need to get new kits at the beginning of the competition but we came in late and forced them to use kits used for other competitions,” he said.
Chirwa further said to spice up the semi-final matches, the company has 500 match tickets that will be given to its customers in Mzuzu and Lilongwe.
The customers are expected to buy five bottles of Carlsberg beer to win the tickets at outlets such as Katoto, Zolozolo in Mzuzu, Bwandilo, Gulliver and Falls, among others, in Lilongwe.
Speaking after receiving the kit, Moyale representative Chipiliro Ngongondo said they were prepared for Wanderers.
“We have been beaten twice by Wanderers and I don’t think we can accept to be humiliated at our backyard this time. Much has been done to correct the problems, including the meeting that we had with players so that we can map the way forward,” he said.
