Carlsberg, partners donate to QECH
Carlsberg Malawi, in partnership with charitable organisations such as CitiHope, Med-Share and the Coca- Cola Africa Foundation on Monday donated various medical equipment worth US$138,777.56 to the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre.
Some of the equipment donated include oxygen concentrators, medical test monitors, wheel chairs, trolleys, gloves and face masks.
Carlsberg Malawi Corporate Communications Officer Towela Munthali said the donation was made as part of the business’ corporate social responsibility in partnership with the three institutions.
“While we are in a business, we realise that it is the role of every stakeholder in ensuring that we create a health nation, hence, this commitment,” said Munthali.
CitiHope Country Director Gabriel Msongole said through the initiative, the four institutions are tasked to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in the country’s health sector.
QECH Chief Hospital Administrator Themba Mhango said the equipment would help ease challenges faced by the hospital.
Mhango appealed to other companies and organisations to emulate the gesture.
