Casino Marina opens in Lilongwe on Tuesday

A new casino with state-of-the-art facilities is expected to be opened on Tuesday at New City Centre in Lilongwe.

A number of entertainment and promotional activities have been lined to spice up the launch.

Situated at Golden Peacock Hotel Complex in New City Centre, Area 13, Casino Marina opens just in time for the start of the festive season when entertainment and merry making becomes the order of the day.

According to general manager of Keith Scrace, Casino Marina, which is part of Rank Holdings Limited, a Sri Lankan based group that has been in the business for 23 years, said the classy venue will offer gaming facilities ranging from baccarat, blackjack, roulette as well as poker games and slot machines.

“We are operating over 21 internationally renowned gaming tables including an automated roulette, four variations of poker and many other exciting gaming facilities. We also have a licensed cocktail bar with various spirits, wine and other types of beer and a 30-seater restaurant with Indian, Chinese and western cuisines.

“We have free wi-fi and television screens where patrons will be able to watch all top sporting events and world news,”Scrace said.

The casino also has a private VIP gaming area for people seeking privacy and a smoking area where people can play while smoking.

Scrace also assured patrons of maximum security and safety of their other belongings.

In readiness for the roll out, Scrace said the casino has employed over 200 local staff and trained them over a period of six months.

The launch will be spiced up by live music performances, a fashion show and other entertainment activities.

The casino will also conduct cash draws that will see luck patrons going away with over K100,000 cash prizes.

Scrace said Casino Marina will be the third establishment for the Sri Lankan based group in Africa after opening other casinos in Zambia and Mozambique.
