Central Region Volleyball League (CRVL) has completed the process of identifying its representatives during this year’s Airtel National Volleyball Trophy finals slated for June 30 to July 2 in Lilongwe.
The representatives were identified through games played over the weekend at Malawi Police Headquarters in the Capital City.
Kamuzu Barracks, Junior Spikers, Blue Eagles and Mipuniro Skipers made it in the men’s category while in the ladies category, the league will be represented by Blue Eagles, Kamuzu Barracks Ladies, Snipers and Bunda Dragons.
The national finals will have eight teams from the Central Region whereas the North and South will be represented by five teams each.
The Northern Region will have Moyale Barracks, Mzuni and Police Eagles in the men’s category with Moyale Barracks Queens and Katoto Queens competing in the ladies category.
Southern Region representatives will be identified this weekend in Blantyre.
A total of 18 teams in both men’s and women’s category will take part in the national tournament.
CRVL General Secretary, Trust Mtegha, said the qualifiers went on smoothly.
“The games were very exciting and all the teams played with a purpose. We have identified great teams and we expect to defend the trophy in both categories,” he said.
Kamuzu Barracks and Blue Eagles ladies are the defending champions in the men’s and women’s categories respectively.
