Champions Big Bullets parade the trophy
It was business unusual Tuesday in Lilongwe as newly-crowned TNM Super League champions, Big Bullets, paraded the trophy from the Capital City to the Commercial City, Blantyre.
The champions started off from Lilongwe at around 10:30 am with a convoy of over 20 vehicles. Bullets defeated Civo United 3-1 on Sunday to finish on 66 points, 16 points ahead of second-placed Mafco.
Blaring car horns, red scarfsand flags characterised the mood all the way to Blantyre as fans, including women and children, lined up the streets to cheer the champions.
Lilongwe-based fans escorted the team all the way to Dedza.
Bullets second vice-chairperson, Austin Kasito, congratulated the players for a spirited performance throughout the season.
“The players worked hard and they deserve respect from all the fans.
We won the league with some games and it was not a mean achievement in a tough league like the TNM Super League,” he said.
Bullets captain, Pilirani Zonda, congratulated the fans, saying “It was not an easy road for us, but we showed our quality throughout the season.”
