BY MABVUTO KAMBUWE:
Top boxer Charles Misanjo will slug it out against Bright Mdoka in an eight-round super middle weight title bout at M1 Centre Point in Lilongwe on Sunday.
It would be the third meeting between the two boxers since they turned professional.
In the last meeting between the two boxers in 2015, Mdoka knocked out Misanjo.
But Misanjo has since vowed to redeem his reputation against Mdoka.
“I have been training hard because I know that Mdoka is a good boxer. But I am confident that he will not match me in the ring,” said Misanjo who has won 28 bouts and lost 14 in his career.
But Mdoka said he was unmoved by Misanjo’s tough talk.
“I will show him that I am one of the greatest in the ring. I do not see him finishing eight rounds because he will be on the receiving end of jabs,” said Mdoka who has won three fights and lost seven bouts since he turned professional.
Organisers, Katengeza Boxing Promotions’ spokesperson, Charity Malanga, said preparations for the bout were at an advanced stage.
In the main supporting, Lameck Mkangama will face Dickson Saidi whereas Mudi Kuminga date Yohane Noel. Yobe Kamnyunya will be in action against Henry Kapeni as Alex Ndanga meet Ernest Chipanda.
